Tratos Marine Cables range provides performance and cost advantages and is suitable for fixed wiring of lighting, power, control, instrumentation and propulsion circuits in ships having a rated voltage up to and including 8.7/15kV. Fire resistance (limited circuit integrity) versions are available up to and including 3.3/3.3 kV rating.

Production of Marine Cables started in the 1980’s and since then Tratos has invested in the latest technology, materials and human resources needed to meet the highest performance requirements demanded of the field of Marine Cable.

These cables are available with Crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation or Mica glass tape/Crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation in Copper or Steel Armoured or Unarmoured designs, screened or unscreened with Thermoplastic halogen free (LSZH) sheaths.

Tratos Marine Cables are constructed to be compact and circular and are designed to withstand the conditions of reeving, temporary support and glanding into equipment and through bulkheads, that are accepted practices in the shipbuilding and ship refitting industry.

CHARACTERISTICS

Flexibility = Reduced installation cost. A new generation of marine cables integrating specially designed conductors, optimised core assembly and braids and careful selection of other components brings a new generation of marine cables with an exceptionally low bending radius.

Reduced weight and dimensions = Tratos Marine cables diameter has been reduced by up to 20% on previous cables thanks to the integration of new materials.

Reduced installation time = A unique formulation for the sheath, based upon flame retardant polyolefin, ensures a smooth surface to minimises any friction and helps make installation quick and easy.

SAFETY IN MIND

  • Halogen free
  • Low smoke and gas emissions complying with standard IEC 61034 for smoke and BS EN IEC 60754 for acid and toxic gases
  • Low toxicity and corrosion
  • Flame retardant IEC 60332-1-1
  • Reduced flame propagation BS EN IEC 60332-3-22
  • Fire resistant, complying with standard IEC 60331-11 (when requested)

BETTER BY DESIGN

The use of new components including environmentally friendly materials have reduced cable size by up to 20% compared to previous IEC 60092 cables.

INTERNATIONAL COMPLIANCE

Crossing boundaries means meeting different standards. Tratos’ Marine cables are manufactured and supplied in a range of cables in accordance with the IEC 60092 series of Standards, cables designed to BS 6883, BS 7917 and IEEE 45 are also available on request.

In Ports worldwide Tratos High Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) cables are in use helping to improve the local environment as they allow ships to shut down shipboard generators and to connect to a shore power during their stays in port.
