| Acquisition of Northwest Cables Ltd |

The aquisition of Northwest Cables Ltd. grows the group turnover to £20 million, with 75 employees in the UK, and 150 million Euros with 350 employees worldwide. The electrical cable division is involved in most sectors including Telecommunications (Copper and Optical Fibre), Fire Resistant/Low Smoke Zero Halogen; Oil, Gas and Shipwiring; Medium and Low Voltage Energy; Motorways; Rail and Underground; Control/Instrumentation; Special application flexible trailing and drum reeling cables amongst others.
John Light, Group Managing Director in the UK, believes, “the purchase is of strategic importance to give us a manufacturing operation here, particularly as it is based in what was once the heartland of the British cable industry and brings on board the vast experience of many personnel including Neil Ancell who will continue in his role as Managing Director. This at a time when many companies are downsizing in the UK to manufacture elsewhere, often in areas with less ethical employment policies than those operating in Europe. "In addition, taking over the Modular Wiring Systems Ltd. business puts us at the forefront in this area, based on a rapidly and easily installed modular sub-circuit distribution system prefabricated off-site. This means we are able to offer a product with more control over the quality than most competitors, as cable, armouring and assembly will be fully regulated in-house.” Whilst already established in the UK, the group aims to expand its current client base with new customers who may be looking for improved delivery times, whilst maintaining recognised quality certification including BASEC ;Lloyds Register and LPCB. |
