Tratos Cavi S.p.A. is a world leader in the design and production of superconducting cables for Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion.
The group's superconductivity laboratory (ENEA) was selected out of a number of international firms chosen to tender and was identified as the most suitable based on the synergy between the scientific and technical knowledge of ENEA and the production capacity of the selected industrial partners. The excellent prototypes manufactured by the partners ensured the group was successful even when competing at an international level against high calibre competitors.
Tratos has got a contract for cabling and jacketing of approximately 20 km of ITER Toroidal Field (TF) conductors and in the region of 28 km of JT-60SA TF conductors, plus the jacketing of around 22 km of Poloidal Field (PF) conductors.
Tratos specialist cables have been developed with the wisdom and expertise of several seasoned cable engineers, all of them with over twenty years of experience. Our latest generation of superconducting cables for Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion have combined tried and tested manufacturing techniques with state of the art technology to create cables of phenomenal strength and flexibility.
